The First Bite gameplay prototype showing a zombie horde surrounding survivors
Unity Strategy Prototype

The First Bite

Start with a single infected unit. Spread the outbreak, build a horde, and overwhelm humanity before the survivors escape.

In Development PC Prototype Made in Unity

Humanity is organizing. The outbreak must grow faster.

The First Bite is a top-down reverse-zombie strategy game where the player controls the outbreak instead of the survivors. Every civilian converted adds another body to the horde, but the human population does not stay helpless for long.

Survivors search for supplies, take shelter, build defenses, form organized groups, and push toward evacuation as the alert level rises. The player must hunt intelligently, break fortified positions, spend infection points on mutations, and create enough chaos to stop the escape.

Outbreak versus evacuation

Grow the Horde

Track down civilians, convert survivors, and turn a small outbreak into a dangerous mass of infected units.

Command the Attack

Select zombies, move groups across the map, enable autonomous hunting, and focus the horde on priority targets.

Break Human Defenses

Humans retreat into shelters and barricaded buildings. Zombies must breach those defenses before the survivors regroup.

Race the Alert Level

As panic rises, human behavior escalates from scattered survival to organized resistance and eventual evacuation.

Evolving Survivor Roles

Civilians, workers, police, survivors, medics, and builders contribute differently to the human response.

Mutation Progression

Earn infection points through successful conversions and use them to unlock stronger infected types as the outbreak develops.

Built as a focused strategy experiment

The First Bite is being developed as a smaller, systems-driven project centered on readable large-scale behavior, emergent battles, and the tension between outbreak growth and survivor organization. Visuals and balance are still evolving while the gameplay foundation is tested.
