Fishing in Trenchport

Buy or make bait, cast anywhere in Trenchport with the official fishing pole, beat the reel mini-game, chase fish records, sell your catch, and compete in weekly tournaments.

No fixed fishing spot required

Grab the pole and fish the city.

The Trenchport Fishing Pole is a wearable fishing system. Pick a bait once, press Fish for each cast, wait for the tug, then match the symbols shown by the reel mini-game before the catch gets away.

1 bait per cast 10m movement limit Up to 4 reel steps Records tracked by weight
Holstered pole? Type /fish to draw it before you try to cast.

The basic loop

Quick Start

5 steps
1

Wear the pole

Attach the Trenchport Fishing Pole. If it is holstered, type /fish to take it out.

2

Choose bait

Touch the pole, press Bait, and choose bait you already own. Your choice stays saved until you run out or select another bait.

3

Cast

Press Fish. One bait is consumed when the cast begins. The pole tells you the estimated wait for a tug.

4

Reel in

When the tug dialog appears, press Reel In before the line goes slack.

5

Match the symbols

Press the exact arrow or turn symbol requested on every step. Complete the sequence and the catch is added to your inventory.

How the Reel Mini-Game Works

Trenchport fishing reel prompt asking the player to match a direction symbol
Read the Pull symbol, then click the matching button before the timer expires.

After a fish bites, the pole may give you a sequence of one to four pull prompts. Each prompt shows exactly which symbol to press and gives you roughly seven seconds to answer.

  • Press the exact symbol shown in the dialog.
  • Longer waits can produce more reel steps, up to four.
  • A wrong symbol, missed timer, or expired line means the catch gets away.
  • Do not walk more than 10 meters from where you cast while waiting or reeling.

Choosing Bait

Buy bait from the Trenchport Bait Shop with RP credits, or make supported bait at the Bait Station. The shop and the pole both provide tips; current shop prices are always shown in-world.

Reliable bait for bream, bluegill, and bullhead.

Good all-around starter bait

Crickets

Great morning bait for bream and sunfish.

Morning

Minnows

Good for crappie, bass, and pickerel.

What You Can Catch

Fish catches

Real fish catches are saved with a species, rarity, and weight. When you land one, the pole tells you the weight and where that catch ranks for the species.

  • A new #1 weight is announced as a new species record.
  • Other strong catches can show their current species rank.
  • Fishing catch totals also feed the Trenchport achievement system.

Other finds

Not everything on the line has to be a fish. The fishing pool can also contain useful inventory items, drugs, trash, and other surprises depending on the catch table.

Non-fish catches can still be valuable, but they do not add tournament fish weight.

Selling Fish & Using the Gutting Station

Bayou Trader

Sell eligible fish directly to the Bayou Trader for the normal catalog value. This is the fast option when you just want to cash out the catch.

  • Select what you want to sell.
  • The fish is removed from inventory when the sale succeeds.
  • The normal Trenchport Kings dock cut is applied to the sale.
Gutted gross valueBayou price + 25%
Trenchport Kings cut30% of gross
Your payoutRemaining 70%

The gutting station reserves the selected fish while the job is active. If you cancel, the reserved fish are returned instead of being sold.

Weekly competition

Fishing Tournaments

Active Trenchport fishing tournaments use your normal fishing catches automatically. You do not need a special tournament pole or separate fishing mode.

  • The normal weekly format is scored by total fish weight caught during the tournament window.
  • Only real fish with a recorded weight count. Trash, drugs, and zero-weight catches do not add to your score.
  • The in-world tournament board shows the active event, time remaining, prizes, and current standings.
  • Some events may use a species filter or different prize amounts, so always check the current board.
  • Winning a Trenchport fishing tournament can unlock the Fishing Champion achievement title.
Keep fishing normally. If a tournament is active, qualifying catches are counted by the system as you land them.

Important Fishing Rules

Stay in Trenchport

The pole only allows casts while you are in the Trenchport region.

Do not fish while flying

The pole blocks new casts while your avatar is flying.

Stay near the cast

Moving more than 10 meters from the cast position loses the line.

One line at a time

You cannot begin another cast while a fishing session is already active.

Bait is spent on cast

Canceling or failing a reel does not put the used bait back into inventory.

Watch the dialogs

A bite and every reel step are time-sensitive. Missing the prompt lets the catch escape.
