Bookings and investigations use permanent Justice cases with native Trenchport Police Department case numbers. The internal case record remains the same even as the case moves from investigation to warrant, booking, custody, or closure.
PD & Justice Staff Guide
This guide explains the Trenchport police-side Justice tools for officer bookings, investigator casework, resident and address lookup, evidence review, warrants, custody, permanent notes, staff access, and releases. Use it alongside the Laws & Justice page for the legal framework and HUD Help for player-facing Justice menus.
One permanent Justice history, four role-focused department tools.
Bookings, investigations, evidence submissions, warrants, custody, releases, residential lookup, and stacked case notes all connect through the same Justice records. The terminal you use controls which actions are available to your assigned role.
How the Police-side system is organized
Long names and record details print privately in local chat while compact numbered buttons are used for selection. This keeps menus readable and avoids long-name dialog limits.
OFFICER, INVESTIGATOR, CORRECTIONS, and ADMIN / Supervisor access are separated. Judge and Lawyer access remain their own Justice roles and tools.
Justice staff can work from persistent character records as well as cases. Investigator lookup includes current residence information and previous-address history when available.
Officer Booking Terminal
The Officer Terminal is the normal patrol-side workstation. Officers use it to create bookings, find existing cases, review active custody records and warrants, work the evidence inbox, serve warrants after an in-character arrest, correct a visible case number when authorized, and add permanent officer notes.
- The Officer role is not the Corrections role. Officer access does not automatically grant custody-release authority.
- Use the Officer Terminal for patrol arrests and booking work rather than department administration.
- Serving a warrant follows the arrest. Creating or cancelling higher-level warrants remains an authorized supervisor/judicial workflow.

Investigator Terminal
The dedicated Investigator Terminal is built for case development instead of booking or jail administration. An active INVESTIGATOR or ADMIN Justice staff member can use it while the Investigator role itself stays below Supervisor authority.
Player Lookup & Residential Address History
The Investigator Terminal can search persistent Trenchport resident records even when the player is not being selected from an active arrest list. This gives investigators a character-first starting point for follow-up RP.
Numbered local selection
Scan nearby avatars, print their full names privately in local chat, then choose the matching number from the dialog.
Find people who are not nearby
Search registered residents by character name, display name, username, or full Second Life UUID.
Persistent residential record
View the character's current saved Trenchport address, the address update time, and the number of prior addresses stored in cloud history.
Previous residences
Browse paginated previous-address history so a moved character's older residence is not lost from investigative context.
Cases, investigations and warrants
Player Lookup can show Justice case count, open-investigation count, open-warrant count, latest case and status, and last known region when available.
Move from person to record
From a loaded resident, open that player's permanent case history or jump directly to the latest Justice case.
Supervisor / ADMIN Justice Computer
The Supervisor computer retains the broad Justice administration role. ADMIN staff can perform core booking and lookup work while also managing warrants, staff access, evidence, case administration, and authorized release functions.

Staff Access: Nearby Scan or Direct UUID
Justice staff no longer have to be standing next to the Supervisor Computer to be added. ADMIN users can still use the nearby scan, or choose Add UUID and enter the person's full Second Life UUID directly.
Add Nearby
Scan nearby avatars, print full names privately in local chat, select the matching number, then choose the Justice role.
Add UUID
Paste the staff member's full Second Life UUID when they are offline, away from the station, or simply not within scan range.
Supported Roles
ADMIN, JUDGE, LAWYER, OFFICER, INVESTIGATOR, and CORRECTIONS are available from Staff Access.
List / Remove Staff
Review the saved staff roster and remove access through the same Supervisor staff-management system.
Warrants, evidence, and investigation follow-up
Review first, act second
Player crime reports are OOC evidence submissions. They do not automatically create an arrest, warrant, or conviction. Authorized PD staff review the submission and link it to a Justice case when appropriate.
A case can begin before a suspect is known
Investigations can be opened with the incident, reporting party, location, complaint, and initial narrative while the suspect is still unknown.
Keep the same case as the investigation develops
When a suspect is identified, the investigation continues on the same permanent Justice case instead of creating a disconnected record.
Wanted status does not start custody time
An authorized warrant can flag a character as wanted without starting their sentence. The warrant is served after the actual arrest and remains part of permanent case history.
Corrections Desk
The Corrections Desk focuses on the active custody side of Justice. CORRECTIONS staff use it to review custody records, add jail-side notes, and process verified time-served or bail releases.
- An OFFICER is not automatically CORRECTIONS. Cross-role authority requires the appropriate saved role or ADMIN access.
- Use the desk after sentence time has been verified or when a supported release condition has been met.
- Paying bail, a bond, or a fine does not by itself complete the release workflow.

Case notes stack — they do not replace each other
Justice notes build a lasting cloud audit trail. Officer, Investigator, and Corrections updates append to case history instead of replacing the older note.
Officer notes
Add arrest, booking, patrol follow-up, or case information from police RP.
Investigator notes
Add interviews, leads, suspect development, evidence follow-up, and other investigative progress.
Custody notes
Document jail-side developments, time-served verification, bail handling, and release processing.
Native case numbers
Trenchport Justice uses native TPPD case numbers while the permanent internal case stays connected through investigation, warrant, booking, custody, and closure.
Workflow tips for smoother Justice RP
1. Start with the right tool
Patrol arrests belong at the Officer Terminal. Detective work belongs at the Investigator Terminal. Custody and release handling belong at Corrections. Department administration belongs at the Supervisor Computer.
2. Look up the person, not only the case
Investigators can start from Player Lookup to review the current address, prior addresses, Justice counts, open investigations, warrants, and case history before choosing the record they need.
3. Keep evidence separate from outcomes
Evidence submissions are a report channel, not an automatic conviction system. Review the information first and let RP plus authorized staff actions decide the result.
4. Keep notes current
Because notes stack permanently, short timely updates from officers, investigators, and corrections are better than trying to reconstruct an entire case later.
5. Use UUID staff add when needed
A new staff member no longer has to stand near the Supervisor Computer. Use Add UUID when direct remote setup is easier.
6. Finish releases explicitly
When time served or release eligibility is confirmed, make sure an authorized user actually completes the release workflow so the record does not remain in custody status.
